Who We Are
Baptist Men On Mission (BMEN) are the men of the church taking seriously God’s call to be the husbands, fathers, mentors and churchmen who He has charged them to be. Being a godly man is the foundation to being part of the Baptist Men On Mission, because a godly man will be a godly husband, a godly father, and a godly mentor.
The BMEN mission statement guides Baptist Men On Mission.
My mission as a Baptist Man On Mission is to:
- Worship God with all my life.
- Obey Christ by serving others through my church.
- Resolve to build relationships that strengthen my family and my church.
- Keep my commitment to join other men in God’s mission.
A Baptist Man On Mission is a Christian man 18 or older who:
- Has experienced God in his life
- Is called to take the Great Commission personally
- Accepts and fulfills his role in his church’s Acts 1:8 strategy
- Has accepted the BMEN mission statement to live an on-mission lifestyle
NAMB's mission education encourages the spiritual transformation of regular Christians into on-mission Christians. Mission Education organizations, resources, strategies and events are designed to awaken Christians and churches to personal involvement in the Great Commission. These tools help men to make adjustments that allow them to actively join God on mission and grow to be passionate advocates for worldwide mission causes.
MINISTRIES OF THE BAPTIST MEN on MISSION
DISASTER RELIEF
Disaster Relief is a ministry within the Baptist Men Department of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.
“Kentucky Baptists are part of a larger network of Southern Baptist volunteers trained to respond to disasters by manning mass feeding operations, using chainsaws to clear downed trees and limbs, clear mud out of flooded homes and more. Southern Baptist disaster relief volunteers work in conjunction with other organizations such as the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. As a whole, Southern Baptists compose the third largest relief organization in the United States.” (Excerpt from KBC website)
DISASTER RELIEF RECOVERY UNIT

Shortly after the April 2nd Tornadoes of 2006 in Christian County, KY, a group of individuals began the process to form a local disaster relief team for Christian County. Through donations from individuals and churches, in 2006 CCBA was able to purchase a trailer to be used as a recover unit for chainsaw, mudout and other disaster occurrences. To date our unit and volunteers have responded to many requests for assistance from Sturgis, KY; Todd Co. Church; Wapello Missouri; Springfield, Missouri; Muhlenberg Co., KY; Worthington, Indiana and Christian County during the April 2006 Tornado and the January 2009 Ice Storm. In 2009 there were CCBA team members who participated in the recovery efforts in Louisiana and Texas from Hurricane Gustav and Hurricane Ike.
DISASTER RELIEF SHOWER TRAILER
In 2007 a Shower Trailer Unit was added. In September 2007, at the Christian County Baptist Association Annual Meeting, the Disaster relief team committee was recognized as a new ministry. In July 2008 the Shower Trailer unit was being transported to a call out for Iowa flooding and was destroyed due to high winds. In late 2008 an anonymous donor provided a generous donation to CCBA to purchase a replacement. The new unit went on its first call-out in the Summer of 2010 to assist flood victims in Eastern Kentucky.
DISASTER RELIEF CHILDCARE UNIT
A Disaster Relief Childcare Unit has been added to the fleet of CCBA Disaster Relief operations. This unit will be available to go into areas and provide childcare for the children of disaster victims. Carolyn Self will be overseeing this operation. The construction process is underway and equipment and materials are being ordered to launch the program and is set to completed before the end of 2010.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE CONCERNING PHASE ONE DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING
A note from Cindy Henderson, Ministry Assistant, Baptist Men on Mission/Disaster Relief for the Kentucky Baptist Convention 8-28-2010
New changes will be enforced in the near future concerning disaster relief volunteers. These changes came from Federal Emergency Management Agency, Red Cross, Homeland Security, and the North American Mission Board in 2009 and gave us 2 years to recertify all volunteers with training, a background check and photo identification badge. This process would be required every three years going forward. At the end of this 2 year period we were supposed to drop everyone who was not newly trained or recertified from the active disaster relief availability roster. But, we have now extended the deadline to recertify until the end of 2011. It is not enforced as of yet, but the day is coming when all volunteers at a disaster relief site will be required to have current credentials. Below you will find the schedule for the 2011 trainings. Online registration is available at www.kybaptist.org/dr
